Ten in the Den
Making ten, by finding the two numbers that fill the frame · ages 4-7
1. Warm-up, 5 minutes
Show ten fingers. Hide some behind your back: how many are hiding? Do it for every number to ten.
2. The game, on the projector
The class counts the empty squares in the frame together, then one child taps the number that fills it.
Projector mode is the game with ?projector on the end of its address. It's big and landscape, a win waits for you to press Next, and nothing is saved on the computer: no progress, no animal cards, no login.
3. Away from the screen
Egg-carton ten: groups fill a ten-frame carton with counters and write the pair that makes ten.
Questions to ask
- How many dots are on this card?
- How many empty spaces are left in the frame?
