Ways to play

Every game and every What Makes Me tour can be played with a switch, with a keyboard, with a press and hold, or with bigger pieces. Set it once here: it's kept on this device, and every game and tour follows it.

Switches

Switch scanning

A highlight moves over everything that can be tapped. Most Bluetooth switches type Space or Enter, so no set-up is needed. Pieces are picked up and put down the same way: choose a piece, then choose where it goes.

When a tap counts

Seeing and moving

Bigger piecesOnLetters, numbers, cards and buttons in the games get about a third bigger.

Left-handedOnThe games' own buttons swap sides, and pieces start on the left.

Calm motionOnLess movement in every game and tour, even if the device isn't set to reduce motion: the tours' camera cuts instead of flying, and the celebrations stay still.

A lighter 3D settingOnFor older tablets: the What Makes Me tours draw fewer pixels, so they run more smoothly.

Without a switch

Keyboard: Tab moves between things; Enter or Space taps. To move a piece, press Enter on it, use the arrow keys to choose where it goes, and press Enter again. Escape puts it back.
Tap, then tap: in every game where pieces are dragged, a piece can also be tapped, and then the place it goes tapped. Nothing needs a steady drag.
Colours: any game that asks about colours also shows a pattern on each one, so a child who sees colours differently can still play.

These settings stay in this browser, on this device. They're never sent anywhere.
