Cockatoo's Loud and Soft
Listening for loud and soft, fast and slow · ages 3-6
1. Warm-up, 5 minutes
Play a drum or clap: children stand tall for loud and crouch low for soft, then walk fast or slow to the beat.
2. The game, on the projector
Put the game on the board. The class shows the answer with their bodies (tall for loud, low for soft, running on the spot for fast, slow steps for slow) before a helper taps.
Projector mode is the game with ?projector on the end of its address. It's big and landscape, a win waits for you to press Next, and nothing is saved on the computer: no progress, no animal cards, no login.
3. Away from the screen
Colour in the Bush Band sheet in pairs, then perform each song for the class: once loud, once soft, once fast, once slow.
Questions to ask
- Was that loud or soft? How could you tell?
- What's something that makes a soft sound in our house?
- Can you clap fast? Now slow?
