Snake's Long and Short
Comparing lengths: which ribbons are long, and which are short? · ages 3-5
1. Warm-up, 5 minutes
Stretch your arms out long, then scrunch up short. Line up two children: who is taller?
2. The game, on the projector
The class shows long or short with their arms before a helper sorts the ribbon.
Projector mode is the game with ?projector on the end of its address. It's big and landscape, a win waits for you to press Next, and nothing is saved on the computer: no progress, no animal cards, no login.
3. Away from the screen
Long and short hunt: each group finds three things longer than a pencil and three shorter.
Questions to ask
- Which one is longer? How can you tell?
- Can you find something shorter than your hand?
- If we put these two end to end, would they be longer than the table?
