Ibis's Big Tidy-Up
Sorting by two things at once: colour and shape, size and shape · ages 4-7
1. Warm-up, 5 minutes
Stand up if: you're wearing blue; now if you're wearing blue AND have a jumper on. Try a few.
2. The game, on the projector
Put two hoops on the floor that overlap. One for orange things, one for round things. Where does an orange ball go? Then play a level on the board together, children calling out the box.
Projector mode is the game with ?projector on the end of its address. It's big and landscape, a win waits for you to press Next, and nothing is saved on the computer: no progress, no animal cards, no login.
3. Away from the screen
Sort a tub of mixed blocks in small groups, then the Ibis's Tidy-Up sheet: colour the blocks, cut them out and tidy each into its box.
Questions to ask
- How did you know which box it went in?
- Could it go in two boxes? Why not?
- Can you think of another way to sort them?
