Bigger Than a Digger
Which numbers are bigger and which are smaller · ages 5-8
1. Warm-up, 5 minutes
Two children hold up number cards; the class decides which is bigger and shows it with arms wide.
2. The game, on the projector
The class says "bigger" or "smaller" out loud together before a helper sorts the number.
Projector mode is the game with ?projector on the end of its address. It's big and landscape, a win waits for you to press Next, and nothing is saved on the computer: no progress, no animal cards, no login.
3. Away from the screen
Bigger or smaller? In pairs, each child turns over a card; whoever has the bigger number keeps both.
Questions to ask
- Is this number bigger or smaller than the one on the patch?
- How do you know?
- What number comes just before it?
